From the construction industry to new markets

Vidar Wåge Hansen joined Brimer as VP Projects in 2019. The entrepreneur wanted something more forward-looking, and new opportunities.

After 20 years in the construction industry, with managerial responsibility for the execution of large complex turnkey contracts, and responsibility as district manager at PEAB, Vidar Wåge Hansen took the step into a new industry with Brimer. With a certificate as a carpenter and education from a technical college, he brings solid experience to his role as VP Projects.

- I wanted to try something new," says Vidar, "I knew people who worked here, and when I saw that they were looking for project managers, I decided to apply."

It was the meeting with management that convinced Vidar that Brimer was the right choice for him.

I was really sold when I spoke to Håvard, who is the manager here. There was a good tone, and I felt that they communicate well with management here. Brimer is forward-looking, and they like challenges, growth and development.

Spend time getting to know people

In his role as VP Projects , Vidar focuses a lot on leadership and team building.

"I spend a lot of time with the people, getting to know them, both their strengths and weaknesses. I try to put together teams with different personalities and characteristics that complement each other."

- This is an exciting company with great opportunities. We encourage people to apply internally and progress from the floor to new assignments. There are low thresholds and high ceilings here. If you want to, you can get ahead and learn a lot of new things.

The chance to be part of an international initiative

Vidar is enthusiastic about Brimer's international ambitions:

We are now investing more internationally, with projects in Asia, England, Scotland and Denmark. Especially in the aquaculture and fishing industries. We also want to strengthen our position in the water supply and sanitation sector.

There are great opportunities to travel and see completely new things - for those who want to, there are huge opportunities. As a craftsman, you can travel and experience places like Japan and the UK. We're looking at new, bigger markets.

- We have a great working environment. Management is involved and close to us, they see us and motivate us. We focus on everyone being seen and having a good time. I experience that every day.

Finally, Vidar reflects on the benefits of working at Brimer and living in the region:

- Here you quickly become involved in the whole. You're thrown in and learn the whole process. For adults, the region is social and active, with a short distance to many activities. Sunnmøre is used to both industry and tourism, which makes us open to new people. If you are willing to change and like to learn new things, Brimer is the place for you.

He also emphasizes that there is a good growing environment in Sunnmøre, and that there are great opportunities for a safe upbringing with exciting leisure activities and good schools for children and young people.
